Residential Housing Reimbursement Program
The Residential Housing Reimbursement Program, as outlined in the Fairlawn City Code, Section 291.011, provides financial assistance to eligible residents of the City of Fairlawn for specific home improvements. Residents who own and live in residential properties that were built within the City of Fairlawn on or before January 1, 2000, or residential properties which are five years beyond the certificate of occupancy for the residential structure, are eligible for this program. Eligible homeowners can be reimbursed for the installation of water control devices and certain electrical equipment, with the aim of mitigating issues like flooding and addressing electrical safety concerns. The program covers up to 50% of the cost of these improvements, with a maximum reimbursement of $3,000.

Residential Housing Rehabilitation Financial Assistance Program
The Residential Housing Rehabilitation Financial Assistance Program, as outlined in the Fairlawn City Code, Section 291.02, is a program created to provide financial assistance to low-income individuals residing in single-family, two-family, or three-family residences in the City of Fairlawn. The program offers two types of financial assistance: deferred no-interest loans and low-interest loans. These loans, which range from $1,000 to $10,000, are intended to cover costs related to home rehabilitation projects such as roof repairs, exterior painting, gutter installation, exterior siding replacement, window replacement, sidewalk repair, driveway repair, garage door replacement, and structural integrity improvements. Applications for financial assistance are reviewed and approved by the Residential Housing Assistance Board.
