Emergency Medical Director for Fairlawn Fire
The medical director is responsible for the creation of protocols for pre-hospital medical treatment by Fairlawn's EMS providers and to provide leadership and training with the provision of medical oversight to deliver an EMS service that is professional with the highest standard of care.

Dr. Bare was appointed Fairlawn's Medical Director in January of 2023. Dr. Bare is certified for disaster management through Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Hospital Incident Command System (HICS). He has also received training for Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and completed specialty training Rotations at Baltimore Shock trauma center and emergency hyperbarics medicine in Honolulu, Hi.
He attended medical school at Northeastern Ohio Universities Colleges of Medicine (NEOMED) and completed his residency training in emergency medicine and EMS training at Summa Akron City Hospital.
He holds a master’s degree in medical education from the University of New England.
He completed additional training as a Medical Simulation Director at the Harvard School of Medical Simulation in Boston.
The son of an elementary school teacher, he has a passion for teaching EMS, medical simulation and medical mission/disaster relief work.
Dr. Bare grew up locally and loves hiking, living and raising his family in NE Ohio.
